MMEA's CL-415MP Amphibious Aircraft Clocks 10,000 Flight Hours

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency’s (MMEA) Bombardier CL-415MP amphibious aircraft has clocked 10,000 flight hours, reflecting its role in supporting the country's maritime security and enforcement operations.

MMEA said the aircraft, registered as M71-01 (MSN 2068), had been in service since Jan 23, 2009, and received recognition from De Havilland for the achievement.

"Operated by the Amphibious Squadron at the Subang Maritime Air Station, the aircraft supports maritime surveillance missions, search and rescue (SAR) operations, aerial firefighting and humanitarian assistance.

"Throughout its service, the CL-415MP has participated in various major operations, including Ops Daulat in Lahad Datu in 2013, search operations for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 and the tanker Orkim Harmony, as well as firefighting missions and humanitarian assistance in South Sumatra, Indonesia, in 2015,” it said in a Facebook post today.

It said the aircraft's achievement was also among the highlights of today's monthly Home Ministry assembly, which was attended by its Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Meanwhile, the monthly assembly was further enlivened by a theatrical performance titled “Demi Satu Nyawa”, featuring actor Adlin Aman Ramlie.

The MMEA said the production highlighted its role in maritime SAR operations, focusing on the courage, sacrifices and humanitarian values of rescue personnel who face various challenges while carrying out their duties.

"The performance also provided an opportunity for the public to understand the responsibilities of the MMEA, while appreciating the hopes of families awaiting the return of their loved ones,” it added.

The assembly also witnessed the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to Tuan Ade Mos in recognition of his bravery and actions in helping rescue victims of an accident in Sungai Linggi, Negeri Sembilan on Sept 4, 2025.

In a related development, the MMEA said its operational capabilities continued to be strengthened with the arrival of its first AW189 helicopter on Aug 13, the deployment of KM BENDAHARA, and progress in the construction of two Maritime Surveillance Mission Ships (MPMS), which are currently ahead of schedule.

"MPMS 1 is expected to arrive in Malaysia early next year, and is scheduled to participate in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2027,” it added.

The MMEA also said it had allocated RM1.088 billion for 16 development projects under Rolling Plan 2 of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) for 2027, covering infrastructure and asset development.
