SINGAPORE, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- Singapore’s air quality improved on Sunday as winds shifted to blow from the south, but lingering haze kept the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) in the unhealthy range of 106 to 186.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) in its daily weather and haze outlook said smoke haze from Kalimantan continued to drift towards Singapore. Haze was also observed over Sumatra.
As of 7 pm, NEA data showed that one-hour PM2.5 concentration readings ranged from 37 to 69, within the normal and elevated bands.
"For tomorrow, showers are forecast over Singapore and the surrounding region. Winds are expected to blow from the south-southeast or south, which may limit the transport of smoke haze from Kalimantan to Singapore," the agency said. "However, some smoke haze from Sumatra may drift towards Singapore."
The 24-hour PSI was forecast to range between 101 and 190 on Monday, the NEA added.
