KUALA LANGAT, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- The “Program MADANI Kita (PMK) Tanjong Sepat 2026” attracted about 8,000 visitors, providing a platform to disseminate government information and strengthen engagement with the local community.

Selangor Housing and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the programme, organised by the Selangor Information Department (JAPEN), helped broaden public access to information on government policies, initiatives and programmes.

Borhan, who is also the Tanjong Sepat Assemblyman, said the programme enabled residents to obtain information and access services from various government departments and agencies directly.

“Programmes like this save the public time when dealing with official matters, as government departments and agencies come directly to them to provide their respective services.

“This is an approach that must continue to be strengthened, because the government does not merely formulate policies and implement development; it also ensures that the initiatives provided truly benefit the people,” he told reporters at the event held at Dataran Pantai Batu Laut in Tanjong Sepat today.

Also present were Kuala Langat District Officer Tengku Rohana Tengku Nawawi and Selangor Information Department (JAPEN) Acting Director Herlina Ainizawati Zakaria.

The event was the first of 14 similar programmes planned for Selangor and featured various activities and services, including aerobics sessions, talks, exhibitions and interactive activities organised by government agencies and strategic partners.

Highlights included a talk by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) on electricity tariffs and energy efficiency, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission’s (MCMC) Safe Internet campaign, and a Pocket Talk session by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

Visitors also benefited from Jualan RAHMAH affordable sales, the distribution of saplings and ornamental fish, and a free motorcycle helmet exchange programme involving 500 helmets.

Borhan also presented Bakul RAHMAH aid baskets to 100 recipients in the Tanjong Sepat state constituency to help ease their financial burden.

He said the programme demonstrated effective cooperation between the federal government, state government and local authorities.

“When we discuss development, the most crucial aspect is ensuring that the basic needs and well-being of the people are not overlooked.

“Matters concerning infrastructure, economic opportunities, housing, education and community welfare must continue to be prioritised,” he said.

Borhan expressed hope that the programme would continue to be held to enable more residents, particularly those in rural areas, to gain easier access to government services.

Kampung Batu Laut in Tanjong Sepat was selected as a Kampung Angkat MADANI following the launch of the Program Santuni MADANI initiative, themed “One Leader, One Village”, on Oct 12, 2024.
