KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Large-scale business expos such as the 24th Deepavali Carnival (DC26) not only strengthen the economic prospects of local entrepreneurs and small traders, but also promote racial unity through cross-cultural integration.
Deputy National Unity Minister R. Yuneswaran said the Deepavali expo attracted people from diverse backgrounds, including visitors of different ethnicities and foreign tourists, who came together to celebrate Malaysia's cultural diversity.
“The expo goes beyond business activities to include cultural programmes organised by the Indian community, helping to foster greater unity among the people.
“Unity encompasses all races, religions and cultures, and that is what makes Malaysia unique. I saw Indians, Malays and foreign visitors at the expo,” he said after visiting the event in Bukit Jalil here today.
Yuneswaran said the expo gave new entrepreneurs a chance to expand their businesses without relying solely on government assistance, while complementing existing economic initiatives.
“This is not just about making profits; it also creates opportunities for small traders, entrepreneurs and those who are new to the business world,” he said.
The nine-day DC26, running from Oct 30 to Nov 7, features 450 booths showcasing Deepavali essentials and a wide selection of food, with free admission daily from noon to 10 pm.
