Two Bernama Pixmen Bag Four Awards At Terengganu Media Appreciation Night

KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) achieved a commendable feat today when two of its photographers clinched four awards at the 2027 Terengganu Media Appreciation Awards Night.

Photographer Mohd Khairul Fikiri Osman won first place in the Best Digital Media Photograph category with his photograph titled 'Sara Hidup Nelayan’ (Fishermen's Livelihood), and third place in the Best Print Media Photograph category for his work titled 'Menyusuri Banjir’ (Navigating the Floods).

Freelance photographer Mohd Syafiq Ambak, meanwhile, topped the Best Print Media Photograph category with his work titled 'Mok Nyadat’, while another of his entries, 'Antara Cuaca dan Rezeki’ (Between Weather and Livelihood), secured the runner-up spot in the Best Digital Media Photograph category.

State Local Government, Housing and Health Committee chairman Datuk Wan Sukairi Wan Abdullah, representing Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, presented the prizes at the ceremony, which was organised by the Terengganu government.

Earlier, in his speech, Wan Sukairi said the ceremony was the state government's way of recognising the efforts of media practitioners, including journalists and photographers, who serve as a bridge between the government and the public.

"The duties of media practitioners go beyond merely covering speeches, capturing the best shots or interviewing relevant individuals; they must also gather reactions and complete their reports within the stipulated deadlines.

"This ceremony provides an opportunity to appreciate the efforts behind every news report, photograph and recording produced, while recognising the role of media practitioners,” he added.

He said the state government aims to further strengthen its relationship with media organisations based on professionalism, openness and mutual respect to ensure that information is delivered to the public transparently and responsibly.
