KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Religious knowledge sessions with respected scholars are important in deepening Islamic understanding and guiding religious practice, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said that such sessions could enlighten the mind, purify the heart and guide religious practice based on an intellectual tradition rooted in the knowledge of aqidah (Islamic creed).
In a Facebook post tonight, Anwar said he received a visit from Indonesian preacher Ustaz Abdul Somad Batubara in conjunction with the Majlis Ilmu MADANI held at the official residence of Seri Perdana in Putrajaya today.
He said the religious discourse delivered by Ustaz Abdul Somad addressed the theme of unity amid cultural and religious diversity, drawing lessons and examples from Prophet Muhammad.
“In his discourse, the rich heritage of classical Islamic scholarship found expression in everyday life, bringing religious questions closer to people's daily experiences and enabling them to draw meaning from a deep well of knowledge,” he said in the post.
Anwar also expressed gratitude for the preacher’s presence, describing him as a special guest at the event.
“May Allah SWT preserve Ustaz Abdul Somad’s wisdom in the field of dakwah (Islamic preaching), grant him wisdom and enable his knowledge to reach the hearts of people,” he said.
