GUA MUSANG, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Two local men were arrested after police seized 53.2 grams of pills suspected to be yaba, a drug, during a raid on a hut at Dusun RKT Kesedar Meranto here early this morning.
Gua Musang police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said the raid, conducted under ‘Ops Tapis’ at 12.15 am, involved a team of officers and personnel from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Gua Musang District Police Headquarters (IPD).
He said the two suspects, aged 36 and 39, were arrested on the second floor of the hut.
A search uncovered an orange sling bag containing a metal container and several plastic packets of pills suspected to be yaba, with an estimated value of RM5,320, he said.
“Initial urine screening tests found both men positive for methamphetamine. A records check found that the 39-year-old suspect had five previous drug-related records, while the other had one previous record for a similar offence,” he said in a statement today.
Sik said the case was being investigated under Sections 39B and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Further investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals involved and trace the source of the drug supply.
