KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy call from Dewan Dakwah Islamiyah Indonesia (DDII) chairman Fathurrahman Mahfudz to discuss developments in dakwah efforts and the challenges facing the Muslim community today.
In a Facebook post, Anwar said the meeting with Fathurrahman, in Putrajaya this evening, also provided an opportunity to exchange views on dakwah movements in Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as developments in international affairs.
He said the longstanding close ties were also rooted in the legacy of Indonesian dakwah figure and statesman Mohammad Natsir, as well as Buya Hamka, a renowned Islamic scholar, literary figure and thinker, who contributed significantly to the development of dakwah and Islamic thought in the Nusantara region.
“I pray that DDII will continue to illuminate the path of dakwah and nurture good deeds, so that knowledge finds its way into hearts, and service reaches those in need.
“May every effort bring comfort to the weary, hope to the troubled, and lasting benefits to the wider ummah,” he said.
