TANGKAK, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- The MARA Dialysis Technical Excellence Centre (MARA DTEC), established at TVETMARA Ledang, will serve as a ‘Teaching Factory’ to produce local experts in biomedical technology, particularly in dialysis.
Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the RM1.5 million centre, established through a strategic collaboration with industry players, would provide a real-world learning ecosystem to strengthen the development of highly skilled human capital.
He said students at TVETMARA Ledang would now benefit from an improved learning environment with modern facilities, advanced equipment and direct technical knowledge transfer at the 3,409-square-foot premises, which can accommodate up to 14 haemodialysis machines.
“The centre, which began operations on Aug 17, also directly benefits the local community by providing dialysis treatment at minimal charges.
“At the same time, students and instructors have the opportunity to gain direct industry experience in the operation, maintenance and management of medical technology,” he told reporters after the launch of MARA DTEC here today.
He said the establishment of MARA DTEC was timely, in line with the growing demand for skilled workers, while strengthening the ecosystem for biomedical research, innovation and industry-driven training.
“Up to September 2026, TVETMARA Ledang had produced 2,829 graduates, with an employability rate of 97.1 per cent for the period from 2023 to 2026,” he said.
Meanwhile, when asked about the proposal to establish a MARA hospital, he said the agency had set a 180-day timeframe to hold a series of in-depth discussions with medical experts.
He added that MARA already had a network of pharmacies as well as medical and dental clinics, while the proposed hospital would eventually complete the agency’s overall healthcare ecosystem.
“I want to ensure that the proposal to establish a MARA hospital is not just an empty dream. In this regard, all agency personnel have been directed to be ready to begin the operational planning phase,” he said.
