KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged all road users to drive carefully and responsibly at all times to prevent untoward incidents.
He said this after visiting the family of the late Asiah Ahmad Syahir, five, who died in a six-vehicle collision along Jalan Kuching recently, adding that negligence could have lasting effects on the victims’ families.
“Every decision we make on the road carries responsibility, because a single act of negligence can have a profound and lasting impact on the lives of others and their families,” he said in a post on X today.
He described the loss as deeply moving, especially as a grandfather himself with a grandchild around the same age as the victim, when he visited the family at Kampung Sungai Penchala, here.
“It is hard to imagine the pain and depth of loss endured by the victim’s parents and the entire family.
“As a grandfather with a grandchild around the same age as the girl, I was deeply moved by the loss of a young life that should have had a long journey ahead,” he said.
Ahmad Zahid also prayed that the victim’s family would be granted strength and fortitude to face the difficult time, and that the girl’s soul would be showered with blessings and placed among the faithful.
Earlier, the media reported that a five-year-old girl, who was travelling in a Perodua Bezza, sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at Kuala Lumpur Hospital, following an accident involving six vehicles.
