SEPANG, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain has left it entirely to the court to carry out the legal process concerning the charges against him over the alleged assault of two police officers.

“Today, I am going through the legal process, as I mentioned during my press conference the other day.

“So, I will let the court carry out the due process today,” he told reporters before entering Magistrates’ Court 2 here to face charges in the case.

Mohd Shuhaily thanked Malaysians for their support in connection with the case.

“My thanks go to everyone from all walks of life who has supported me through prayers and text messages.

“That has given me the strength and confidence to continue with these proceedings,” he said.

Mohd Shuhaily said he would refrain from making any statements once the case came before the court today.

“So, this will be my last press conference on this matter. Once the proceedings are over, my lawyers will speak on my behalf,” he said.

Yesterday, Mohd Shuhaily said he was prepared to face the country's legal process and accept whatever decision the court reached.

Mohd Shuhaily had earlier said he would leave it to the government to decide on any action against him following a viral video showing him reprimanding two individuals at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail previously said the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department was investigating the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which deals with voluntarily causing hurt to another person.
