KUCHING, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Legislative Assembly today re-elected Michael Mujah Lihan as a Senator representing Sarawak for a second term.
His nomination was proposed by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and seconded by Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai.
Uggah said Michael had extensive experience in government administration, political leadership and community development, which would be an asset in carrying out his responsibilities as a Senator.
Before his first appointment to the Dewan Negara, Michael served as a political secretary to the Sarawak Premier from 2016 to 2023, he said.
“During his first term as a Senator, he also gained experience in parliamentary affairs and in his responsibilities as Sarawak’s representative at the Federal level.
“That experience provides a foundation for him to continue serving by highlighting issues relating to the development, welfare and interests of the people of Sarawak,” he said when proposing Michael’s re-election at the Assembly sitting here today.
Michael’s first three-year term as a Senator, which began on Dec 11, 2023, is scheduled to end on Dec 10, 2026.
