SHAH ALAM, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- All state religious schools managed by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) in Hulu Langat and Sepang will remain closed until tomorrow (Oct 14) due to developments in Air Pollutant Index (API) readings, pending further notice.
JAIS director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said the directive also applied to private Islamic schools (SIP) in the two districts.
He said boarding students at Maahad Integrasi Tahfiz Selangor (MITS) Bagan Lalang in Sepang were advised to remain in their hostels throughout the closure.
In a statement today, he said state religious schools in other districts and zones would operate as usual, with students advised to wear face masks to protect their health.
“School personnel, parents and guardians are advised to follow official announcements on air quality and school operations, and avoid making assumptions about when schools would reopen,” he said.
Earlier, Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek said all schools under the Hulu Langat and Sepang District Education Offices would be closed tomorrow due to the haze.
