SD Guthrie 3Q Net Profit Falls To RM773 Mln

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 (Bernama) -- SD Guthrie Bhd posted a lower net profit of RM773 million in the third quarter (3Q) ended Sept 30, 2026, from RM935 million in 3Q 2025.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said the lower profit was mainly attributed to the industrial development, midstream and downstream segments, which were partially cushioned by higher profit from the upstream segment.

The group said its revenue also fell RM5.39 billion from RM5.41 billion previously.

“The midstream segment reported a lower profit before interest and tax (PBIT) of RM99 million in the current quarter as compared to RM123 million in the previous corresponding quarter, primarily due to lower margins from the Asia Pacific bulk operations.

“The downstream segment registered a PBIT of RM1 million as compared to RM31 million in the previous corresponding quarter, due to lower margins from the differentiated operations in Asia Pacific and Europe, and a higher share of losses from a joint venture,” it said.

However, it said the upstream segment’s recurring profit PBIT rose by 48 per cent to RM935 million in the current quarter, primarily attributed to higher average realised prices of crude palm oil and palm kernel by three per cent and seven per cent, respectively.

It said the gain was also due to fresh fruit bunches production rising eight per cent to 2.48 million metric tonnes, driven by improved operations in Malaysia and Indonesia, which offset lower production in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

It added that the oil extraction rate also improved, increasing from 21.08 per cent to 21.23 per cent.

For the nine months of 2026, net profit stood at RM2.32 billion, up from RM2 billion a year ago, while revenue fell to RM15.02 billion from RM15.39 billion previously.

On prospects, SD Guthrie said it will remain focused on enhancing productivity and climate resilience across its upstream business and sharpen its focus on midstream as a strategic bridge between its upstream and downstream operations, strengthening oil aggregation, supply chain integration and feedstock security.

“Looking ahead, the group remains positive on its FY 2026 outlook, underpinned by its resilient and integrated business model, disciplined execution and growing contributions from its diversification initiatives.

“Guthrie continues to maintain operational discipline and agility in navigating evolving market volatility and weather-related risks,” it added.
