AirBorneo Launches Kuching-Jakarta Flight, Fares From RM399

KUCHING, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- Sarawak’s state-owned airline, AirBorneo, has officially opened ticket sales today for its new direct route connecting Kuching to Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, starting Nov 13.

The route to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will operate three times weekly, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, with all-in one-way fares starting from RM399 in Economy Class and RM888 in Business Class.

The inaugural flight (MY 396) on Nov 13 departs Kuching at 3.10 pm, while the return flight (MY 397) leaves Jakarta at 4.55 pm local time.

Its chief executive officer, Megat Ardian Aminuddin, said the new route marks a significant milestone in expanding the airline's regional network across key ASEAN gateways.

"A direct link to Indonesia’s commercial capital makes it easier for business leaders, investors and official delegations to travel between our two markets.

"It also offers patients and families a more comfortable journey to specialist care in Sarawak," he said in a statement today.

Megat Ardian added that the route would also serve leisure travellers in both directions, as Indonesian visitors can discover Borneo’s rainforests, culture and festivals, while travellers from Borneo can enjoy all that Jakarta has to offer.

In tandem with the Jakarta rollout, AirBorneo has adjusted its regional flight frequencies as part of its jet network schedule for the Northern Winter 2026/27 season, which runs from Oct 25 to March 27 next year.

This includes operating the Kuching–Singapore service four times weekly since Oct 23 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while its twice-daily Kuching–Kuala Lumpur trunk service continues as scheduled.

Under the winter schedule, the Singapore service departs Kuching at 7.35 pm (MY 0385) and returns from Changi Airport at 10 pm (MY 0386), while the afternoon flight MY 5004 now departs Kuala Lumpur at 3.40 pm.

“Passengers holding bookings on affected Singapore services have been contacted directly and offered rebooking options,” the airline said.

Passengers can book tickets to Jakarta starting today (Oct 31) directly via the official AirBorneo mobile application, the airline’s website at www.airborneo.com or through AirBorneo’s airport ticketing offices.
