Short-term Rates Set To Remain Stable Next Week On BNM Operations
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- Short-term interbank rates are expected to remain stable next week, supported by Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) financial system operations.
The central bank conducted daily liquidity operations this week through reverse repo tenders and Islamic reverse repo tenders, comprising both collateralised commodity murabahah and sell-and-buy-back agreements, to reduce surplus funds in the financial system.
On a Friday-to-Friday basis, surplus liquidity in the conventional system fell to RM36.40 billion from RM43.10 billion a week earlier. Surplus liquidity in the Islamic system rose to RM36.40 billion from RM28.10 billion at the end of last week.
The Malaysia Islamic Overnight Rate (MYOR-i) stood at 2.75 per cent as of Oct 29, 2026.
