Nasdaq Bolsters Singapore Presence With Two Senior Leaders

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (Bernama) -- Nasdaq Inc has appointed Andrew Murray as Senior Vice President, Financial Technology, Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore, to deepen its client partnerships and accelerate business growth in the region.

The appointment follows the relocation to Singapore of Nasdaq’s Vice Chairman and Head of International Listings, Bob McCooey, which the company said would strengthen its engagement with the region’s companies and their access to global capital.

“Asia-Pacific is entering one of the most significant cycles of innovation and market evolution in decades, driven by artificial intelligence, data and the move toward always-on, globally connected markets.

“Andrew’s strong track record of helping financial institutions solve complex technology challenges will be invaluable as our clients navigate this rapidly changing landscape,” said Nasdaq Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer, Financial Technology, Valerie Bannert-Thurner in a statement.

Murray has over three decades of experience at financial technology companies serving treasury, trading, corporate banking and capital markets clients.

He most recently held a leadership role in international banking and payments at FIS, where he supported clients across the full banking and payments value chain and previously worked at Calypso Technology, now part of Nasdaq, SunGard, Wall Street Systems and Deutsche Bank.

Meanwhile, McCooey, who has been with Nasdaq for more than two decades, said strengthening its presence on the ground would allow the company to work more closely with the region’s companies, investors and market participants.

The moves add two senior leaders to Nasdaq’s base in Singapore, which the company said reflects its long-term commitment to Asia-Pacific.
