Form Six Students To Receive Allowance From First Semester Next Year - Fadhlina

NIBONG TEBAL, Oct 25 (Bernama) -- Form Six students will receive RM2,500 in living allowances starting from the first semester next year, said Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek.

She said the allowances, announced under Budget 2027, would be disbursed after the registration process for all Form Six students had been completed.

“Once the registration process for all Form Six students is completed, we will disburse the assistance in their first semester,” she told reporters after officiating at the Nibong Tebal parliamentary constituency-level ‘Jelajah Negaraku: Aku Kasih Malaysia’ programme here today.

She said the allowance would be distributed in stages over the three semesters of study, with approximately RM800 allocated for each semester.

Fadhlina said the initiative demonstrated the government’s commitment to supporting the needs of Form Six students, particularly in their studies, while also improving the quality of Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM).

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat on Oct 9, announced that the government had agreed to provide Form Six students with RM2,500 in living allowances.

The amount is equivalent to the allowance received by matriculation students and is expected to benefit 90,000 Form Six students nationwide.

The provision of the allowance was one of 12 resolutions raised at the MADANI Pre-University Congress held in Klang, Selangor, last August.

Commenting on ‘Jelajah Negaraku: Aku Kasih Malaysia’, Fadhlina said the programme, organised by the Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia (AKM), the Prime Minister’s Department, was among the ongoing efforts to promote discourse on nationhood and bring the agenda closer to the people.

She said the programme featured various activities involving children, youths, parents and senior citizens, focusing on unity, harmony, love for the country and the strengthening of the Rukun Negara.

Fadhlina, who is also the Nibong Tebal Member of Parliament, said the responsibility of preserving the country’s harmony, stability and peace should not rest solely with the government but must be shared by all Malaysians.

“The government certainly has a responsibility to organise programmes such as these, but the people also share the same responsibility to ensure harmony, stability, security and, most importantly, peace,” she said.

The two-day programme, which ended today, also provided an opportunity for the public to interact directly with government agencies, obtain information on their services, and share their views and the needs of their local communities.
